Daniel and his parents Amanda and Brendan from New South Wales in Australia registered for NoTube’s Netcoaching program in March 2011. Daniel is a monochorionic twin who suffered from severe intrauterine growth restriction with reverse end diastolic flow, due to a marginally inserted umbilical cord to the placenta. He was born in the 29th week of gestation by emergency caeserian section. These circumstances made NG-feeding necessary. Daniel showed a lot of negative side effects like vomiting, retching and gagging. When Daniel and his family started the Netcoaching program, he had his tube for already 10 months. Only one month later, Daniel was tube weaned and he has been tube-free ever since.
From the parents
I just wanted to give you an update again…. Daniel is EATING!!!
Starting from about 1.5 weeks ago, I stopped giving him a bottle on waking in the morning. Instead, once he began showing hunger signs, I put him in his highchair and offered him some banana custard (his favorite) mixed with baby rice cereal and milk. He ate it!! Every day since then he is just getting better and better. He is happily trying many new foods and gladly accepts food from a spoon but will also feed himself finger food, e.g. biscuits, as well. Just in the last week and a half he has taken rice cereal, yogurt, pureed pumpkin, spinach, and ricotta, pureed chicken, noodle, and veggies, pureed pears, and egg custard. He is our little champion!
Thank you again for your support and belief which helped us to wean him, we will be forever grateful.
Kind regards,
Amanda
